Well, not really :) Last weekend (or something like that) we had a big picnic party for our good friends Philippe and Leslie, celebrating Philippe's PHD from Berkeley and Leslie's hard work in standing by him thru the grueling process. We are proud to call them our 'kind of a big deal in the economics world' friends. How might you ask, do we, simple, garage dwelling folk, have such high caliber friends? .... well it all started with the sighting of another young couple (she a tall, blond beauty, he a not so tall, dark handsome stud) at church one sunday back in 2008.... the boys fell in love with each others beards and obsession for hockey, and us girls .... well, we figured we must have something in common if we both married not so tall dark, handsome studs! Mix that with 3 years of small group and well, there you have it .... dear, dear 'kind of a big deal' friends. :) Now the story doesn't end there .... with that big PHD, Philippe has landed himself quite the job in DC and his blond beauty has got herself accepted to Georgetown's Masters program. And the only glitch i've found in this grand plan is that DC is, well, in DC. A bit further than two BART stations away, in fact, by my calculations, it's really, really, really far away... so we find ourselves in new territory here ..... friends moving away and leaving us! Now we know it's not good bye forever .... heck, we're already planning our visit .... but we will miss the 'everyday'ness of our friendship ......What a true blessing you have been in our lives Leslie and Philippe!
