Cooking....

Well now that Tom´s off working all day I have some time to practice my domestic skills. I went shopping yesterday and bought my 1st chicken (well 1/2 a chicken).....it was pretty intense! The lady pulled a whole chicken out of her frig and chopped it in 1/2 for me .... guts and all, chopped off the foot and then put it into a black plastic bag and off i went! I asked around the Cabanas and figured out how to bake a chicken -the young girl from England remembered mostly how long her mother cooked it at home -asked Carl from Sweden, at what temp Celsius he would bake cookies at so i could figure out how to convert the Celsius to Ferenhight on the oven..... i used Josh's(Coleman of course) dry rub concept to add some flavor .... only had salt, pepper, and some red stuff that was spicy....mixed with lots of garlic and some honey....
I also attempted to make some lentils for the 1st time.....soaked them all day...added veggies and more garlic and 2 hours later (at 10 pm) we ate chicken and lentils and we are still alive today! Finished it off with a fruit smoothie for desert ....i´m quite proud of myself!
The lady who cleans our cabana´s cooks her lunch everyday in the communal kitchen so i´ve been taking notes .... today i learned how to make fish head soup (i´m not kidding .... eyeballs and all) it was really good! I also learned how to make avocado juice as well as chicken soup yesterday. Very exciting cooking from scratch .... looking forward to learning and cooking more!

Here is a pic of David eating fish head soup.... (David is the guy who looks after the Cabanas, gardens, pool ect......)i talk with as much as i can.....he only speaks Spanish....our 1st week here we could not communicate at all .... so it's exciting to feel the progress....
